Wenta win Silver at Hertfordshire Digital Awards
Wenta picked up the Silver Award in the Use of Social Media for Business category at last night’s Hertfordshire Digital Awards.
The awards, now in their third year, celebrate local businesses use of technology and digital communications. Award categories included Online Retailer, Blog: Business, Mobile App and the prestigious Website category.
Elstree Studios were recognised with the special Spirit of Hertfordshire Award in recognition of their contribution to local business.
The ceremony, which took place in the lively De Havilland Campus at the University of Hertfordshire, was attended by a wide range of industries from around Hertfordshire.
Spirits were high and as anticipation for the evening set in, the hashtag #HDA16 started trending on local Twitter search.
Wenta were announced as winners of the Silver Award for Use of Social Media for Business.
Jennifer Condon, Marketing Manager at Wenta stated:
“As a social enterprise with a marketing team of just 3 people, our budget is small. However, there has always been the impression that we are much bigger because of our strong digital marketing presence. Over the past six months, we have been focusing on improving our social media networks.
“We have discovered that a small budget does not necessarily mean limited marketing potential. Rather, your potential is limited only by your imagination and hard work. Social media is a great place for marketers to harness their creativity and create content which inspires, informs and entertains.
“Over the past 6 months, we have seen our Twitter followers increase to over 5000 followers. Our tweets are now reaching over 3,000 people per day and this growth, alongside our Silver Award, is a sign that we are heading in the right direction.
“We have also been growing our Facebook and LinkedIn presence following during this time. Additionally, we have recently launched the Wenta Blog which is driving our social media communication forward even further by providing great content for small business owners.
"The blog covers topics of interest to small businesses and entrepreneurs and will contain articles from everyone across the Wenta family from business advisors, business centre managers, the HR team and beyond. Topics covered so far have included copywriting, and (fittingly) social media.
“Thank you to the Hertfordshire Digital Awards for this award and for hosting a brilliant evening. We’d also like to extend our congratulations to the Gold Award winner in our category, Fluid Studios and a thank you to the category sponsors Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership.”
Celebrations carried on into the night with the official Hertfordshire Digital Awards Twitter account stating: “If nothing else the @hertsdigiawards prove that #Hertfordshire really likes wine #HDA16”
Headline sponsors of the awards were Nimbus Hosting. Other sponsors included Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce, Hertfordshire Mercury, Distinctly and the Department for International Trade.
