Local MP, Richard Harrington, pops in for a chat with Wenta clients

The Wenta Business Centre - Watford welcomed local MP, Richard Harrington, last Friday (24th January 2014) for lunch and an ‘informal chat’.

Centre residents were invited for a bite to eat whilst airing their thoughts, opinions, suggestions and questions on local business in Watford with the conservative MP.

Hosted to explore opinions of local business owners and the types of tools that Wenta clients felt they needed to expand and grow their businesses further, the lunch resulted in a great turn out with around 20 businesses in attendance. Clients were able to express their frustrations on issues such as the lack of financial support for SMEs, and Richard was able to shed light on the current help and support available within the local Watford constituency. Richard re-iterated his ‘easy-going’ and ‘approachable’ nature for any Watford business that wants to get in touch with him regarding issues that they are facing, stating that he would “do all that he can to help them grow their business by representing them at a national level where he is able to.”

Richard said, “Local business activities are very much a part of my agenda and, this isn’t just spirit talk, if there is anything that you think I can do to help your business then please do get in touch. I’m here to help.”

Richard also provided further updates on subjects that are likely to affect small businesses in Watford in the near future such as the Watford – Euston tube line link, expansion of Watford Junction train station and the various health campus developments at Watford Hospital - all changes that are due to start taking place in Watford soon.

As a result of such a successful lunch/talk, Richard is now looking to host this same type of event on a regular basis at The Wenta Business Centre, Watford.

Managing Director of Wenta Business Centres Ltd, Spencer Tagg, said, “We were delighted to welcome Richard to our Watford business centre. As a local MP we felt it would it would be a great opportunity for Richard, as well as our centre clients, to chat, informally, about current issues that local, small business are facing as well as the various opportunities available. We look forward to seeing Richard again in a few months time for the next one.”

Demonstrating that his talks with Wenta businesses were serious and that he is definitely going to bring up the concerns raised by them on a national scale, Richard echoed their views on ‘red tape’ and ‘bureaucracy’ today to David Cameron on ‘Prime Minister’s Questions’, which was broadcasted live on BBC 2 from The House of Commons.

Richard said, “At a recent meeting at Wenta, the enterprise hub in Watford that I visited last week, I saw quite a few small businesses such as AC Solutions and Pocket Fit Training who said to me, Mr Speaker, that that they were very frustrated by the amount of bureaucracy and red tape that’s hindering their business and I’d like to ask the Prime Minister and his Government what they intend to do about it?”
