What is an ATA Carnet?
Need to take your goods abroad temporarily — for a trade show, demo or testing? The ATA Carnet acts like a passport for your equipment, letting you cross borders without paying import duties each time. Here’s how it works.
What is an ATA Carnet?
It’s an international customs document that allows duty-free and tax-free temporary export of goods to over 80 countries for up to one year. It replaces complex customs paperwork with a single document that’s accepted across borders.
Who uses it?
If you’re an exhibitor, artist, sportsperson, technician, or business traveller taking goods abroad temporarily, an ATA Carnet simplifies your journey.
The ATA Carnet covers:
-
Trade exhibitions and shows
-
Commercial samples
-
Professional equipment
-
Testing or repair purposes
Why use it?
It saves time, money and stress. Without one, you’d have to deal with customs rules in every country, including bonds or deposits. With a Carnet, your goods can come and go without extra charges.
How long is it valid?
12 months from issue — and you can travel as many times as needed during that year.
How to apply?
All applications are handled electronically via the eCert system. Wenta and our trusted partners are here to guide you through every step.
