Supporting businesses to access Stevenage Borough Council procurement opportunities

To support local businesses in Stevenage, Stevenage Borough Council is running an inaugural online event:

Supporting businesses to access Stevenage Borough Council procurement opportunities”

Date: Thursday 30 July at 10.30am – 11.30am.

What is it?

The event is part of the council’s response to support businesses through the current pandemic and towards economic recovery. As part of its ongoing support to businesses, the council has continued to provide information, advice and guidance to its businesses community and has supported 863 businesses access funding through the Small Business Grant Fund, the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant and also through the Discretionary Grant Fund.

Supporting businesses to access Stevenage Borough Council procurement opportunities aims to support local businesses to understand the council’s procurement process. The council is keen to continue to support its businesses during these difficult times by encouraging them to bid for opportunities,  which will increase supply chains and result in business growth. This event will help to explain the red tape surrounding the procurement processes and rules, which can often be seen as a barrier to businesses accessing public sector contracts.

Stevenage Borough Council are fully committed to enabling local businesses to access the opportunities available from Stevenage Borough Council, in order to grow a thriving and enterprising economy which benefits all local businesses.

The ‘Supporting businesses to access Stevenage Borough Council Procurement Opportunities’ workshop will provide a bite-sized session which will explain public sector procurement process, inform businesses of new opportunities, how these can be accessed and the buying process at Stevenage Borough Council. The event will also help demystify paperwork and outline support available to businesses, including top tips for bidding and much more.

The event will last an hour and will be presented by the Council’s Procurement Managers - Lisa Baldock and Kirsten Brown.
