After an 18 year career in HR, redundancy from the Rover Group offered the escape route for Chris to start his own business. In 1988 with the closure of the Scammell Trucks Division, Chris and his business partner were assisted by Wenta to start a specialist powder coating company in Watford. Having run it successfully for 7 years, Chris then joined Wenta in August 1995 as Chief Executive, with secret hopes to reduce his golf handicap. In the 18 years that followed the Agency, under Chris’s stewardship, grew to become one of the most entrepreneurial and successful in the country, employing now more than 55 people. Chris is still a hopeless golfer!
On the 21st of April 2015, Chris was awarded The Queen's Lifetime Achievement Award for Enterprise Promotion. This award recognises individuals who have played an outstanding role in promoting the growth of business enterprise as well as developing entrepreneurial skills and attitudes in others. The Award is given to only one person each year in the UK.
In September 2013 Chris stepped down as Chief Executive to take up the role of Chairman of the Main Wenta Group Board. Chris will continue to represent Wenta in an ambassadorial capacity and be involve in major strategic projects. Chris is also the Chairman of the National Enterprise Network, the national association representing enterprise organisations in England.
Chris is an opinionated sports fanatic; a countryside lover and walker; enjoys being a fun and supportive granddad; remains a hopeless golfer and is a passionate Watford FC and Saracens RFC supporter.
